Ready to RollReady to RollReady to Roll

All those layers for the cold pass make it look like I could lose some pounds- wait, I could.... Ah hell, let's roll!
Here it is folks, another travel blog!
This year Reverend Chuck and I were all set for a reprise of Dos Dirty Padres. The plan was thwarted by the feds. More like the public response to the feds. It seems that Chuck’s temporary job with the Census Bureau is lasting much longer that he anticipated. Joe Q Public did not send in their Census forms in the numbers expected, so Chuck is going door-to-door- and not riding. Poor Sod.
Glorious riding weather sent me off, temps in the 40s over the pass, and then peeling layers in Ellensburg.
The soul-numbing slab miles went by quickly and soon it was the Yakima river canyon, hillsides green in spring foliage.
Winds were flat calm crossing the Columbia at Driggs, and the green wheat fields and burgeoning windmill towers made for great scenery.
By the fuel stop in Fossil, I was tired. However, the camping options were poor, so another 100 miles of riding was called for.
Recognizing the hazards of fatigue, a few rest stops later, I rolled into Clyde Holliday State Park. The hiker/biker section is open to motorcycles. Nice lawn, picnic tables, water, electricity, and showers - five bucks!

rider, Glen, who rode in on a KLR, and we shared beer and conversation until well after dark. He was heading back to Edmonds from a brief jaunt to the same SW Oregon area I’m headed.
Saturday it’s south to the Malheur. Likely camping at Page Springs. Provisions and fuel in Burns, then off the grid for a few days.
Stay tuned compadres.

No Mom, I really wasn't riding with one hand while snapping photos under way. I was parked. Really, I was.

Reverend, I am trusting all is sunny and curvy in your world. Though I pray for good roads and warm breezes for you I can't help to curse a tad. I am missing being out there with you... Sadness has crept into my life and the only thing that keeps the light in my heart is your blogs.... So where are they? Where are you? Awaiting the next... Rev Chuck

Hey Bill, Glad to hear from you. Looks like nice country and weather! My bike is presently residing in the garage as we prepare for basement reno. I am going to Algonquin this wkd for a few days, but want to bring the boats, so no bike again. Keep me posted. I refuse to give up on the bike thing till we get to do a ride together! Be safe.
