Nick's uncle and aunty making kava
an aquired taste but i managed to drink half of the contents of the bucket by caroline
DAY 97
Our flight today is 12.10pm, back to Carcacas yet again. The worst thing is saying goodbye and that empty feeling you get.
We arrived in Caracas at 6.30pm, at the Catimar hotel we head to the bar for supper, we
ordered 2 beers and got 2 strawberry milkshakes good to see our spainish has improved.
Day 98
Flight to Dallas is 10.24am, on arriving in Dallas we have to make our way to security where for some reason my camara sets off an explosive alarm, just my luck. Tim's looking a bit panick stricken, anyway no worries apparently this happens all the time. Whats daft is you can just walk out side and have a smoke, with nothing stopping you from just walking out into the street. L A is much the same with out the security checks. Lucky I was able to sleep most of the way to Fiji, arriving at 6am. It feels a bit odd to have lost a whole day, the 3rd of feb didn't exist, spooky.
Day 99
At the hostel we can't get in our room till 10am. While waiting we meet Tom who's just flown in from London
giving Tim a chance to catch up on some footie gossip. After a much needed shower I head for the pool. Tims not feeling to good he's gone to bed. I end up having dinner on my own Tims still rough, I feel like billy no mates.
Day 100
Woke up at 3pm this morning. 5am I go back to bed for a couple of hours, that flight has played havoc with my body clock. Take a taxi into town at about 10am. Most shops are closed as its sunday, it gives us a chance to get our bearings.
Tims still feeling crook and has gone back to bed, I spend the afternoon by the pool, got chatting to Tom , Tommy and Susan at least I won't have to have dinner on my own again.
Day 101
Thinking of hiring a car this morning so we take the bus into town, It turns out to be too expensive so instead we take a taxi the Garden of the Sleeping Giants which are very beautiful.
Back at the hostel we bump into the guys from yesterday. Tim must be feeling better he's back on the beer.
Day 102
Today we
Caroline's First Taste of Kava
she tried to be polite but the words umm lovely just would'nt come out are visiting Tim's best mate Nick's family in Korotoga, taking the 8.30 bus into town. After picking up a few things to take. The bus took about an hour, dropping us at a place called the Crows Nest. We don't have an actual address so we ask a women who is running a stall on the side of the road. Turns out Nick's uncle is her neighbour. She sends us off with her 4 year old son but it soon becomes apparent he's not sure of the way. Tim leaves me at the shop and takes the little chap back to his mum. In the mean time she has contacted Michael, by the time Tim gets back to me Michael pulls up in his car.
We spend the morning chatting over delicious coconut milk, Michaels wife makes us a curry for lunch, then they take us for a ride round in the car to see where Dean and Nick used to work, a very beautiful spot right on the ocean.
Back at the house, Michael mixes up some Kava root for us to try, it wasn't so bad but I'm quite happy to leave it at a taste Tim however
Michael Sharma
you groovy dude seemed to be enjoying it.
At 4.30pm we were taken to Nick's cousin Hammonds house to meet more of the family, they made us feel very welcome and we've had a lovely day.
Micheal drops us at the main road to catch a mini bus into town, we can get the bus back to Nadi from there.
Day 103
This morning we are going to South Sea Island, its only a half hour boat trip. Todays for relaxing, sun, sea and sand.
Tim nearly trod on a jellyfish, which then put me off snorkelling. After a BBQ lunch we took a ride on the semi submersible over the reef, a much better idea.
Got back to the hostel about 6.30pm, getting an early night, got to be at the airport for 6am.

Bula Dudes
37 hours after leaving our hotel in Caracas we finally arrived at our hostel in Nadi. A build up of gas combined with an objection to using aeroplane toilets and the good manners not to fart in front of people I don't know left me feeling unwell for the first two day's. This was'nt too much of a problem as we
intended on doing very little here in Fiji. The only thing that was important for us was making sure we visited Nick's ( my best mate) folk's who lived in Korotoga along the Coral Coast. This we managed to do on the wednesday. They made us very welcome, fed and watered us and showed us how to make kava. They were insistant that we stayed overnight with them and were more than a little bit disappointed when we explained we had to get back that evening as we had a trip booked early the next morning. Nick's cousins were even more upset because they were hoping we would stay and get plastered with them, which we would have loved to do but unfortunately could'nt. We even got invited to the wedding of Nick's younger cousin also named Nick who is expected to get married in a couple of years time. We said we would come back armed with many slabs of beer and drink until the last man's standing. We left at six o'clock after what had been a really lovely day spent with some really genuine warm hearted people and fully aware of the reason my friend Nick is
so proud of who he is and where he comes from.
