Gary on 75-Mile Beach
It really is 75 miles long For the past week or so we're been heading slowly down the east coast, stopping at stuff that interests us. Here's what we're been up to:
Fraser Island: We went on a 2-day tour of Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island. It is probably the prettiest place we've been so far. The beach goes on forever and the lakes are the clearest blue. The sand is white and so fine, it feels like powder! Which is great until you try and get it out of your towels, hair, ears.....
Brisbane: My new favourite city!!! Fantastic shopping, funky downtown, and a beautiful riverfront area, without the hustle-bustle and boatloads of tourists in Sydney. We stayed a couple days, but i could be happy there for quite sometime. Also went to (crikey!) Steve Erwin's Zoo (otherwise known as the crocodile hunter). If you don't mind cheesiness and life-size cutouts of Steve Erwin, this zoo was cool 'cause you could pet most of the animals, and the croc-feeding shows were pretty good.
Now we're in Byron Bay, hippie central and a surfer's paradise. Dreadlocks and organic food shops abound.

Sports Update
I know this excites you Michelle(not) but here goes anyway. The final four is #2 UCLA vs #4 LSU and #3 Florida vs #11 George Mason. Steven Ames won the Players Championship by 6 over Retief Goosen. Canadiens swept the Leafs in two games and virtually put them out of the play-offs and now have a good chance of getting in. The Sens are still going strong. Baseball season is just around the corner and it looks like the Yankees will sin another World Series. Bye for now Dad
