Unexpected Move

Many of you know this, but for those who don't, I have moved. Sort of. Ugh. Tis a looooong story. But here is the short(ish) version. We recently discovered mold in the trailer (particularly in Ingrid's bathroom). Upon inspection, we were told we couldn't live there any more. I was really bummed about this since we were just getting settled in and I was loving having my own room and having the awesome comfy chairs in the living room, etc. Anyway, this was decided on Thursday and so Thursday night Lauren had as sleepover her house cause she didn't want us sleeping in the trailer. That was lovely. I slept on her couch, which was very comfortable.

Friday after work we had previous plans to dog-sit for Lauren and so that is what we did. Ingrid had work so I went over to Lauren's house after work and hung out there all night. It was really great. I got to play with Abita (the dog) and take her for walks, and hang out in a nice apartment with wireless internet! It was a lovely relaxing night. Watched some tv on dvd with Ingrid when she got off work. Spent the night this time in a bed (sooooo comfortable. and with a dog in the room! added bonus). Sadly in the morning after an hour or so we had to head home so that we could start packing. They wanted us to have everything mostly out of the trailer by the end of the weekend. Stopped at the grocery store and then packed for an hour or so. In the afternoon headed over to the hotel that they were paying for us to stay in for the weekend. SUCH a nice hotel. It was kinda awesome. No kitchen obviously, so I had cooked a large amount of food beforehand which we just ate for dinner both Saturday and Sunday nights. Anyway, Saturday evening I went down to the beach since the hotel was in Ocean Springs and thus I was only 5minutes from downtown. It was lovely. Then ended up going to see a movie with Lauren, Emily and her husband. Twas fun. When Ingrid got home from work, neither of us were that tired, so we went out to appleebees for drinks and food. Very fun. Reminded me of all the good times I had at applebees back home with friends. =)

Oh man, the beds in the hotel were amazing. I slept so well. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Somehow I managed to get up and drive all the way to Pascagula for church. Glad I did. It was a really good morning and then the pastor and his wife invited me to lunch after so I got to get to know them and their family (2 kids) a bit better). It was nice.

Packed a bit more after church and then went to the beach again for a few hours. Enjoyed the motel for the rest of the night. Had another amazing nights' sleep. Sadly had to get up and leave monday morning. After work we had to drive all of our crap to Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge, which is about 25minutes east of where I work. In the opposite direction of ocean springs. Sadness. Wasn't really sure what to expect but actually so far it seems to be pretty good. The place is quite nice. There are 2 other girls living here (they are working here... one on her grad research and the other is her field tech) so that's two more people I now know in the area! =) Ingrid and I are in a "dorm room" with 2 bunk beds, a dresser and a table. Small (especially compared to the trailer where we had our own huge rooms), but we also have our own bathroom, and it is super nice. The kitchen is brand new and so it is lovely and infinitely better than what we were working with at the trailer so that is another huge plus. =) Also, they have wireless internet, although it is through the government, so like our computers at work, we are blocked from certain sites (facebook, youtube, some of my random non-profit sites and things), but still, it is nice being able to check my email, post these blog entries, etc. The only real down sides to this new living arrangment are the fact that there is no common living room type area (no couch or comfy chairs, no tv no dvd player etc) and the fact that we now have to get up 30minutes earlier in order to leave time for the commute to work.

In general though, things aren't as bad as I was fearing they might be. This place is actually pretty nice and its nice to meet new people. And hopefully within the next month or so they will finish they bunk house on our refuge and we will be able to move in there and be back on site once again.

New Living Quarters
Hey there! Doesn't sound too bad after all. Yeah!! It IS a bummer that you have to commute and don't have a common living room type area, but the kitchen sounds very nice and having wireless internet is a plus so guess all in all it's a good trade off. As you mentioned, hopefully they'll finish the bunkhouse at YOUR site sooner than expected. You've got a great attitude Jackie. Hang onto it!! Love you!
