A pitt stop in Auckland

The views while we drove from the Mongolian Tent to our ferry port reminded me of driving through the Yorkshire Dales on a sunny day. "Can I have an ice cream" I heard from the back - all the adults groaned and rolled their eyes as this has become Lian's signature request. The landscape changed from hilly fields (filled with cows), to masses and masses of ferns, tall trees and bushes, as we drove through one of New Zealands Forest Parks. It was an incredible view.
We stopped at Coromandel town and picked up a few things from Munchies Deli Bakehouse - anyone visiting the Coromandel really must stop here. El and I oooh'd and aaah'd as we looked at the glass fridges filled with cakes and pastries and the baking rack with bread and pizza slices. I could have eaten all of it, but settled with a mini savory and white chocolate caramel slice. Only ate half of the slice at first as I didn't want to make myself sick.
Back on the road I got stuck in to my book. At one point I looked up to see brown hills tumbling over each other to my left, and to my right, greeny blue waves splashing against black rocks. The comparison of the two were like chalk and cheese - it's no wonder New Zealand is so famous for it's beautiful scenery.
Dot dropped us off at the port and they rushed off in the minivan to board their ferry home to Waiheke island. Ours arrived just 15 minutes later and took us back to Auckland mainland. We stopped at a 7-11 in Mission Bay to use the internet as we hadn't been online for days. It's the longest I've not used my facebook account and online banking ever! As I logged on I felt a rush of excitement, followed by mild panic: what if I had no money left in my account; what if someone had urgently tried to reach me; god forbid someone had gotten engaged and I was the last to know!
A "quick 30minutes" turned in to 3 hours as I'd had a number of messages about the blog and thought I should post a couple to keep "my fans" going (mainly my Mam and Ami).
I got chicken satay noodles from Otto Woo, a trendy noodle bar in Mission Bay then walked home to Donna's. It was great to catch up with her after our weekend away!
