Well, I got myself a good deal and bought tickets to Auckland for my 4 days off. I headed out on Wednesday afternoon and Pete picked me up from the airport and took me up to a place called One Tree hill which has a great view of Auckland. There are also a ton of sheep that just wander around and come quite close to you, so New Zealand!

Ate dinner at an awesome burger place here called Burger Fuel. My burger had avacado and brie cheese mmmmmmmmm. Had a drink in a pub and then off to bed.

The next day Pete and I headed on a ferry over to an island called Waiheke Island. There are a ton of beaches and wineries on the island. We hopped on a bus and went straight for the beach. We had perfect weather for it! Sat at a little cafe and had a beer with the view of the ocean staring at us. AMAZING. And yes, you heard right...beer. I’ve somehow managed to become a bit of a beer fan, I know, WEIRD!!!! Dad i’m sure you’re proud haha.

We stopped in the main town and walked around a bit before heading back to Auckland. The next day we decided to drive out to Piha which is a major surf beach just outside of Auckland. It was super cool. They had HUGE waves. They also have a reality tv show that shoots here called Piha: Surf rescue. There are a lot of accidents here because the waves and currents are so strong. They have flags set up so you know the area where its ok to swim. Pete and I went into the water and it was crazy! The waves are huge and then as you are standing there you can feel the water just pull you back out into the sea. It’s awesome!

As we were sitting on the beach drying off I felt something on my neck and hit it with my hand but it was too late, I was stung by a wasp. It HURT! But Pete was awesome and took me to the lifeguard tower and I got some cream put on it and a bag of ice. We were a bit worried because it was so close to my neck and I wasn’t sure if I was allergic or not seeing as i’ve never been stung but it was ok. We sat for another hour with ice on my neck and then headed back into Auckland.

Met up with Pete and some of his friends and his brother for some drinks that night and had a good night out on the town. It was fun but my neck was a bit stiff but nothing major.

On my last day in Auckland, checked out of the hostel and then Pete and I had some lunch and he took me to a huge mall which was cool, part of it is outside which is neat. Went up to another spot where you can see the whole city laid out.

Went out for dinner and then it was time to take me to the airport. Was an awesome 4 days and I saw a lot more of Auckland that I wouldn’t have seen or known about on my own so that was cool. And of course it was great to see Pete again.
