Wat Arun
The oldest Wat in Bangkok and our favourite 18th March
We moved guesthouses to a new place in Bangkok's Chinatown. Then we went to a tour organiser to organise some trekking in Changmai. We met up with Benya Pa who showed us round Wat Arun which is an amazing temple, one of the oldest in Bangkok. Benya Pa teaches us how to pray to Budda in the temple and she also teaches us how to bless our birthdays. She then teaches us the different Wai which are the different types of bow according to status. We go to a Thai bar and meet all of their friends and drink cocktails, then off to a Thai club for some live music topped off with some tasty grasshopper when we leave the club!

We have an early start and meet up with Benya Pa and she shows us around all of the Temples in Bangkok including the Grand Palace and Wat Po. The Grand Palace is impressive. Lots of detail and gold. Pete wears the wrong shirt and sweats really bad and we laugh about this most of the day. Wat Po is more low key except for a giant reclining Buddha. We head to the

We couldn't resist train station for our sleeper train to Chang Mai (13 hours). We agree to meet up with Benya and Wine in Phuket when we come back into Thailand. They were great people. They really sorted us out and showed us round everywhere for free. It’s a bit of a tough goodbye when we leave them at the train station to head north as they made our experience of Bangkok amazing and became great friends.

The Quinnell Inheritance: The Wat Arun has competition!!!
Re: ‘The Sweats’ I beg to differ Martin!!! It looks like Pete (evidently quite proud of something) is peeing against the tree and the lovely little Thai girl on the left seems suitably impressed! Could well be Pete’s finest hour!!!
