Hey All!

Well, we left Ko Phan Ngan today to take our dive course on Koh Tao! Were all super pumped, but a bit tired after watching a 2 hour introductory video on scuba diving. Tomorrow will be our first dive in the ocean, after a half a day in the classroom.

Well, theres alot to update. First of all, while we were all on our secluded little beach, we decided we would walk the 30 minute trek up the mountainous island to see the view point ( you can see everything from this point). I guess we got lost, went off the trail somehow, and ended up walking an hour and a half to the other side of the island; Haad Rin (this is where the Full Moon Party took place). Halfway into the "jungle", we found a single abandoned-looking house with a lady living there who gave us semi-understandable directions to Haad Rin. We arrived in Haad Rin after dark (7:30pm), and were relieved to find one last boat that could take us back to Haad Yuan! We were soooooo lucky! It was a definite experience though!

Yesterday, we experienced our first tropical monsoon! Rain started coming down pretty hard, and all the restaurants had to put their bamboo blinds down, because the wind was so strong! When everyone else was running to their huts to stay dry, Jeff, Jason, Emily, and I were changing into our bathing suits to go swimming in the huge waves. It was so much fun. Oh, and Laura, you'll like this part! On our way to the Ocean, because the wind was so strong, an old dried up branch from a palm tree fell right infront of Emily!!! It was hilarious! It came crashing down, and Emily just shrieked. Hahaha, it was Emily's second incident with a palm tree!

Yesterday night we were woken up (Emily and I) at about 4 in the morning, because our hut was shaking from the rain. It started coming down like crazy, and we were kinda freaked out for about 5 minutes. We thought our hut would blow away! We went back to bed and were relieved to find ourselves still alive after the storm.

Like I said, we have left our secluded little beach on Ko Pang Ngan, and are now on Koh Tao (most common island for dive courses) to take our 4 day dive course. After this, we will head to Burma for our visa run, then go south to hit Phuket, Ko Pi Pi, and Railay Beach. After that, we want to ditch Thailand, and see more of the rest of Asia like, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and possibly Malaysia. Hopefully it all works out.

Well, thats all for today. Hope all is swell at home.

Marie 😊
