Fleeing Cyclone Larry

Just a quick note to say we made it safely out of the path of Cyclone Larry yesterday. The eye of the storm was supposed to hit land about 50 km south of where we were (Cairns) bringing 280 km winds, so we hoped in our car and drove 9 hours down the coast. As it turns out it was a Category 5 storm by the time it hit Cairns (about 14 hours after we had left) so there's pretty extensive damage. Where we are now it is fine, sunny but with strong winds.

So I did not even know about the Clyclone until you bloged. It is all over the news here now. Good thing it did not hit while you were on the boat!! They say it is the worst in 10 years. One more thing to talk about when you get home. Have fun!

Hi Gary and Michelle, I am so glad you "got out of Dodge when Cyclone Larry showed up. I wasn't even aware that there was a storm there until your blog. It was severe. Some tidbits for Gary as I know Michelle will not care about these. 1. The Raiders won the provincial basketball. 2. Kris Heshka is the careeer leader in points and rebounds. 3. Duke and Georgetown have advanced to the sweet sixteen. 4. Syracuse is out. 5. Dallas signed Terrell Owens. That's all for now. Keep the blog updated. Dad 2. Duke and Georgetown are on to the sweet 16 but not Syracuse.

hockey playoffs
another note for gary on the sports tip: Our hockey team( http://www.osmhl.com div 4 west, team name:old man strength, in case anyone wants to checks gary's stats for the season) has only one game left to play but it won't change our standings, we finished second and our first playoff game is april 9th. I've only played 3 games since xmas, so i'm terrible right now, thankfully jarret is playing in your place and he's good. not end to end gary good, but good enough.
