Hello all. I'm sorry that this is my very first update and it hasn't come for so long but I think that with a little explanation you'll understand why.

For the past few months I've been tentatively planning a trip to New Zealand with my brother. He's going to be studying down on the south island in Christchurch and I had wanted to go for the adventure. As we started talking more and more the idea of my going became more and more of a reality. Once we finally decided that we were going to go ahead and do it, it was very difficult to find accommodations and figure out a real plan. As we started searching our main criteria was the price of the plane tickets. We found out that tickets to Auckland were far less expensive if we flew out of either LA or Portland, OR. From that information we decided to spend a week in Portland with some of Austin's friends who live there.

After way more searching Austin learned that the tickets to Auckland would only be $100 more expensive if we wanted to spend some time in Hawai'i. We had absolutely no plans whatsoever for staying in Hawai'i and didn't buy the tickets that night because of that uncertainty and low and behold ticket prices changed the next day ... for the better. The next day it was only a $40 difference if we wanted to spend two weeks in Hawai'i and so that's exactly what we did! We bought the tickets and figured things out later. And this is where the secrecy comes in. I had found out that I could overlap my trip to Hawai'i with Annabelle's Prin Abroad there which I was extremely excited about but I wanted to surprise her so I couldn't risk having information out there for her to find or for someone to comment to me about. So basically the plan was one week in Portland (which annabelle knew about), then 10 days (when Annabelle thought I was already in New Zealand), and 4 days on O'ahu when I surprised her! That's the skeletal outline of my trip and more about my adventures in those places still to come.
