I met someone and exchanged numbers. He wanted my first name, then he asked my father’s name and went to input that, David Stephen, as my name in his phone. I tried to explain, my last name is not Stephen, but I decided whatever, it doesn’t matter. I thought the mix up was just a language thing, by father name he meant surname. Later I met this man named Zelalem and we have been using his son Temasgen as a data collector. We asked for a receipt for what we pay him and he wrote his name Temasgen Zelalem. So that is the way people are named here: your first name and the first name of your father. Pretty interesting.

i think the mexican's give the child a name, then the mothers sur name and then the fathers sur name. sure makes it difficult when they get a social security number and file their taxes.
