Hi all,
life has finally quitened down here after a flurry of visitors and activities over christmas and new year. We have been enjoying slightly warmer weather which is nice, only getting down to about -10.

We celebrated Christmas the best we could, Danni, Brigid, Dan and Clinchy were all here to make it feel like a family event which was nice. The day started in true christmas fashion with pancakes and icecream for breakfast, while we patiently waited for poor Bec to get home from work to open our presents.

I scored some great presents and we tried to celebrate Aussie style with some snow cricket, played with a plank of wood and tennis ball. It only lasted a couple of innings due to frozen toes. We continued the activities inside with table top hockey, on the floor since we don't have a table. After dinner we had a bit of a dance and whipped the table cloth off (a twister mat) for some twister followed by the Home Alone movies to wind the day down.

We had a great turn out, the four of us, Danni, Brig, Dan, Clinch, Gouldy, Sarah (from my uni), Ben (Sarah's friend from home), Zac (an Aussie we met at the hostel), Steve (token kiwi), Matt Wilson and Lameeka (a friend of Vince's from school who lives in the next town and his girlfriend) Dinner consisted of all the usual, not as good as home but still very good, everyone chipped in so it was a breeze, even in our tiny kitchen.

We had barely recovered from Christmas and New year was upon us. Most of the bars here wanted to charge a weeks pay for entry so we had a few people over for Uno and some drinks before braving it out to the town centre for fireworks and street celebrations. which continued for quite some time despite the sub 0 temperatures, very sub 0.

A couple of days later we all went for a chilly walk around Johnson Canyon to see the frozen waterfalls, caves and ice formations. I took about a thousand photos but they are very repetative so i just picked a highlight or two. We have some picture of the same place in summer, of people swimming, hard to remember.

We have still been trying to board a couple of times of week, but last week we ventured out to Lake Louise, which was really beautiful, nice long runs, great views and hardly any people. Great day, went down my first black run... by accident, but I survived. My bum however may not.

The next day we got a great deal on a lift passes to Kicking horse about 2 hours away from Banff. It is famous for its powder and definitely didn't disappoint. It looked very overcast but the gondola went straight through the clouds and came out the other side, way out the other side. We were so high up, the clouds looked like water running through the mountains. I actually froze up a bit, it was so high. I hope the pictures show it, sometimes it looked like we were going to board out onto the clouds. It was great fun, so much powder which we meant we could take way more risks and not break anything. Great day.

The Olympic flame came to town last week, which was a lot of hype but kind of cool to see, i took some videos which i think i can post on tis, but maybe not.

Anyway that

becka keeps the age old tradition of wearing all her christmas gifts
brings us pretty much up to date, we are off to Calgary for the weekend to see a hockey game and do a bit of sight seeing. Hope everyone is well, love to everyone. x

hi Kate
Hi Kate, Happy New Year to you, Vince and friends, life continues to be great for you by the looks of things. We have had a nice holiday and I'm ready for Lachie to back to school! He is nearly taller than me and I'm losing ground rapidly. WE missed you at Christmas- a tricky one without Tony but at least Georgia had great news re New York which sparked everyone up. Take care, love Helen.

Snow men
Thank God no one pushed Clinchy down a hill - he would have rolled and rolled and rolled (sorry mate!). Also very concerned about Goat and Clinchy in their 'Gay Pride' scarf and beanie - I have never believed those rumours before, but you never ever know, do you. Bryan

Catie, You forgot to mention one of our christmas guests...Aunt Jemima! I know she was only there in 'syrup' but you could've acknowledged her. Also think you undersold our xmas dinner. It was pretty freakin good for a first effort and with limited kitchen space and utensils
