It has finally reached the point of no return where we are starting to realise this is the last time we will be doing things for some time.

The last time we will spend a whole day doing nothing. The last time we will have access to our own computer and room. The last time we will go to work (ok thats not such a bad one).

For once Emma is being the optimist out of all of this and saying its soon going to be the first time we do lots of things as well. Whilst I like this it doesn't stop me being absolutely petrified that I am about to leave everything I am used to and start a prolonged period of time where for the first part and possibly more I will be well outside of my comfort zone.

Just watched 2012 though and don't think it will be that bad. And now over to Emma who is much more versed in all the planning stages as she did most of them - i'm going to go and breathe into a paper bag or get an alcoholic drink maybe.

I have been planning and organising and writing lists and stressing for a while now, but (and i say this with fingers crosses) I think that we are ready. The only thing left to get is socks, and I doubt that the whole trip will be dramatically affected by their absence.

I have been packing and unpacking and repacking the backpacks for a month or so, and despite Andy's protests, I do not have too many clothes and my shoes are epic but I sort-of-maybe-almost concede that they are not that practical.

Despite the lack of socks and amount of clothes we are a bit excited about setting off, we have our first night hotel booked in Kuala Lumpur and a very rough route planned.

We fly to Kuala Lumpur and then head north wanting to visit Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos then back to Bangkok to fly to Burma in April. After that we will be heading south to see Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and hopefully the Philippines.

Well that's more than enough for a first entry - there will be a few more frantic ones to follow over the next week and a half and then things will really start to get interesting after that.
