Week 2 in Dubai

hey Everybody,

It was a lot easier to just create a travel blog an email everyone the link than upload pictures on hotmail. Hotmail takes forever and you can only upload a few pics.

I created this blog for family and friends, however anyone is welcome to follow this blog.

Not much is new here in the last week. Dubai got a lot of rain, more rain than people have seen in years. They don't have drainage systems here so when it floods the rain just lingers on the roads for days, and its deep!
We finished our last day of induction week for Emirates yesterday so our group had planned to go out and have a celebration before our intense Safety training begins. We later found out it was Islamic New Year, and the entire county was dry. So much for our celebration.

Our week of training Induction consisted of Uniform Fittings, Government and Emirates medicals, blood work, chest x-rays, team building, corporate inductions, medical talks and lectures, company benefits and rules, Information Technology, Liquor License and drivers license.

Next week we get to go down the slide out of the plain, learn how to deliver babies....all the fun first aid stuff.

Were all really excited to start flying, were a littler nervous about some of the places we fly to, as we have not heard good things like Lagos, Nigeria. We get escorted out of the airport by Nigerian Police who have Machine Guns, and they follow us to the hotel.

The shopping in insane here, I tried to stay away from the malls, then one day I gave in and went. Now I go all the time because I realized I couldn't buy anything even if I tried because everything is way out of my budget so I just window shop.

Anyways, I'll write again soon when I have some exciting news!

Hi I am over here at Rockys place doing what I do best! I am busy cleaning up his house for his big Xmas dinner . He took me downstairs on his compputer & showed me your pictures from Dubai, I'll bet your Happy Happy Happy that you made the move. I am so proud of you for taking on the challenge! But I know if anybody can do it you can. The pictures look like you have a great group of people there that your working with, and I am sure you will find everything your doing really interesting! Just study as hard as you can & be one of their top students & I am sure you will be well rewarded.. Were going to miss having you home for Xmas, I am sure your mum will& dad will. Everybodys planning on comming to Dubai to see you in the New Year, so be sure you've got everything right about the discounts right! Does your imediate family fly free from Vancouver or from Toronto? And what's about Rocky& family &me . So E-mail Rocky &give him the scoop on what it will cost us & how easy is it to get a reservation, or do we have to hang around the airport for a week on standby . My computers not working to well , I have to get my hardrive cleaned out. But from the pictures I see that are on your blog , looks like your enjoying yourself........
