In honor of my 200th blog entry, I'm sharing a story of triumph. It's only fitting.
On Monday I went to Starbucks to get a coffee before heading home from my lesson with my tutor. I needed to stay up and study so I could meet her for an extra lesson on Tuesday. A Dark Cherry Mocha seemed like the perfect motivation.
I ordered, I paid, I went home. I took a drink. It was a plain mocha. No cherry. I was quite disappointed. It's a seasonal drink for the holidays and I think it's the best thing I've ever tasted. It's like drinking chocolate covered cherries. I thought you couldn't get them here, but I was wrong--but the cost works out to about $1 (US) per piece. I'll stick to my coffee.
The next day, Tuesday, I went back to Starbucks to meet my tutor at 9am. En route I thought about whether I had enough Chinese skill to explain what had happened and maybe get the situation rectified. I decided I did and would give it a try.
I arrived and the tired looking employee greeted me. I explained, in Chinese, that the night before I had asked for and paid for a Dark Cherry Mocha. I had then left. At home, I realized it did not have cherry. I then said that I would like another Dark Cherry Mocha but would like to only be charged for a regular mocha.
I held my breath.
She repeated what I had said. I nodded.
I got my Dark Cherry Mocha at the reduced price.

Bravo!!! Way to go, Kris!!
Great story! Congratulation on your Chinese language success! We only wish that Starbucks offered these dark cherry mochas in the US.
