Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la, la la la la. Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la! 😊
I am pleasantly surprised that there are lots of signs of Christmas even here in Shanghai! Well, I am missing snow though! Its been rather cold here and that is our winter weather...just coldness, the damp kind of cold!
Anyway, but it makes me happy to see the streets and trees lined with twinkling lights and Christmas garlands.
This past Saturday, I went to a
Christkindlmarkt (a German Christmas market) at Paulaner Brauhaus on Fenyang Lu. There were different stalls and booths selling festive treats and decorations, jewellery, Christmas cards, wrapping paper, etc. (though everything was way over-priced). Anyway, I went with a few of my friends from work and I also met up with a new friend of mine--Nina--who is from Germany. She strongly recommended that I try a famous German Christmas drink called Glühwein. It is a hot, spiced wine. It tasted kind of fruity. The market was not too big, but it was just nice to experience some Christmas fun here in Shanghai,
hear some Christmas carols, drink some hot chocolate with marshmallows and to also see a real Christmas tree!
I am not sure how the Swarovski Christmas tree in the Eaton Centre looks like this year, but theres a
Swarovski Christmas tree here...at the Grand Gateway Mall. It is a modern, futuristic kind of Christmas tree; its not what I expected, but it was still neat and very sparkly!
And at Carrefour, there is a huge aisle of everything Christmas! Lots of different Christmas trees, poinsettias (for 11.80 RMB per pot; thats less than a twoonie), Christmas decorations galore (albeit, there are all tacky), Christmas cards...
So yup! Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!!!!! I am excited! And Im so ready for Christmas holiday! Only 2 weeks to go! 😊
