SO SORRY I haven't written in so long, time just got away from me completely, I didn't even realize it had been so long!!
I will start by saying... I BOUGHT SHOES!!! They are the most beautiful heels, I love them. They are a sort of suede like material, all black, pretty tall, with sort of looped ribbon of the same material down the front. I wore them to a birthday party in a private room by one of the nicest bars in the city. It was fantastic, I felt so... posh in my beautiful shoes and little black dress! At first I thought I might be over dressed, but I actually blended in perfectly, the tone of the evening being a formal, yet young one.
The store I bought them in was a sort of boutique I suppose, everything was SO cute and the young woman who helped me was wearing the most adorable and fashionable outfit I have ever seen off TV. It was in sort of teal green tones, with half boot heels and a big fairy like dress, with the perfect make-up for it too of course. I admired her in the way that you admires a very talented painter, you wish you were as talented and capable, but deep down you know it will never be, and that even if you were that good, you could never handle the lifestyle, no matter how happy it makes that particular painter.
Then next thing I feel I should write about is my venture to the ice skating rink yesterday! Apparently a little later in the year a different one will open up outside in the center, which I am extremely excited for, but for now I went to an indoor one, not all that far away. At first i could barely move. Just wobbling forward, arms out-stretched, quite as though I were walking a tight rope in the middle of a blizzard. I justify this with the fact that it was perhaps only my second time ever, and my first in at least 3 years. However, I am proud to report that before long I was getting the hang of it, and I began really enjoying it. I have a feeling that i will return as a fairly competent ice skater, thought it probably wont do me much good in Mendo ahah.
As far as school I have one thing in particular that I am extremely proud of. Here, they grade on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best. They do both written and oral exams, and while some of the better students manage nines and tens on the written tests, its common knowledge that you can't get a ten on an oral test... ever, period, end of statement. Even nines are considered as generally out of the picture, making anyone THRILLED with an eight. So, in my Italian/History class, I recently did 2 oral tests. Mine were, I admit, different than those of the rest of the class. Instead of studying an entire chapter with many different subjects, I was given one subject that I had to give a little 5 minute or so speech-like thing on. The first was fairly short, about a certain style of writing called "Il dolce Stil Nove" from way back in the time of Dante.... I got an 8!! The second was on a style of political organization from the 10th and 11th centuries called "communi", like the Medici family and so on, this one was far longer, almost a page and a half that I memorized, understood, and repeated. The teacher was quite impressed, I got a... drum-roll please... NINE!!!
Ero felichissima.
Now it is very late, I have another little story to recount, but I will post that tomorrow.

Rest in peace Mimi, I love you, you are greatly missed by many. I send all my love to my family in this time, especially to you Mom, stay strong.
