This morning around 8:30, Anthony called to see how I was feeling. I was still in bed, obviously, and said I was feeling much better. And I am. My stomach is no longer doing funny things. I said I thought I could come back to work today. "Today?" he asked. "Oh, well, don't you think you should take an extra day or two to rest? See, the students, many of them are sick, and you are weak, and they might make you sick."

What? I would have fallen over if I hadn't been laying down.

"Are you sure? I don't want to cause any trouble for anyone. I am feeling much better."
"No, no, it is our duty, to you, to the other teachers--health is most important."
I'm now staying home today and tomorrow and not returning to work until Thursday.

I like this health care plan better than the version in the US:
"I'm calling in sick"
"Are you really sick?"
"Yes, that's why I'm calling in.
"Do you think you can come in anyway?"
"Well, I'm throwing up."
"Hmmmmm, so? Well, will you be in tomorrow?"

That would be funny if it hadn't actually happened.

So today I slept, I ate crackers, I slept, I did laundry, ate oranges, and puttered around my room, and I realized I'm weaker than I thought I was. All the delicious food I was given is low-cal. Not particularly helpful if you're trying to make up calories and get healthy again.

Roy was kind enough to go to Jusco on an ice cream run for me tonight. I'm going for high fat and high cal. I need to be healthy in two days. I now have two delicious types of ice cream in big containers. Once I finish digesting the spaghetti I had for dinner 3 hours ago I'll have some. I'm still full.

The boys next door are having a celebration party. All I could hear was what sounded like a bad Chinese musical (I hate musicals) and then some Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys. I looked outside and they're having a BBQ. Graduation day must be coming this weekend. Ahh, the entertainment. Between that and the Bourne trilogy that I just bought on DVD, I'm set for tonight and tomorrow.
