Spent a couple of nice days in Singapore, a complete contrast to India as it’s practically Consumer Heaven (not that we could afford to buy anything, but browsing was fun). We did the Duck Tour - an amphibious vehicle that takes you both around the city and into the river, past the big wheel (copy cats!), the Helix Bridge and the huge casino development. We also saw where they were preparing for the Grand Prix which took place a couple of weeks later. Afternoon tea at Raffles, dahling, where Joe was in his element!
The next day we went to Singapore Zoo which was pretty cool - the kids got to feed giraffes and we saw some beautiful white tigers. There was also a cheetah who came speeding over to the Perspex barrier to eye-ball Joe for several minutes.
As we had been upgraded at our hotel for some reason, Bella and I thought we would try out the exclusive Royal Lounge, only to be politely evicted by the hostess who, once she had tapped our room number into her all-knowing computer, came back over to say “I’m very sorry Mrs Worboys, but just because we’ve upgraded you, doesn’t
mean you’re actually entitled to use the facilities”. Stuffed several more of the free pastries into our mouths and left!!
NB: We love Singapore Airlines, great food and great movies to keep the kids happy!
