Only being in Jo'berg for 2 days I experienced a lot about the history of South Africa and how the Apartheid happened.

The Apartheid Museum was very good and provided a ton of information on the history of South Africa. If you are interested about the history you can read more facts about it below.

I also visited Soweto which was a large township in the world. This tour basically just consisted of driving around and see things. We only got out of the car a few times. To see the hospital, which is the largest in the world. He showed us the original hostels that the miners worked in, that still have no running water or electricity. He also showed us where he grew up which I think is a nice touch. Some interesting things that he mentioned were that health care and education are all free and that the government gives the people living in shanty shacks free houses. He said that there has been a delay because of fraudulent houses being given to people from Zimbabwe and other countries who have money to just give the money.

He drove us around and showed us where Winnie Mandela, Nelson’s first wife still lives. He also took us too Vilakazi Street. This is the only street in the world that two Noble winners have come from. He then took us to the corn
