well the dreaded call came out 5.00 am .... about a minute after i finally got to sleep ... the guide and driver met us outside at 5.45 and we set off for the taj mahal.
the guide went off to buy the tickets 750 rupees each, nuppence if you are a local, you also got a bottle of water and a pair of paper slipovers for your shoes
anyway the guide told us the history of the palace in about 10 seconds and then said we could explore the place on our own and hed see us later
the place is fantastic, and everything you'd hope for ... damian told it was a place for romantics and he was with josh so theres hope for us all
i did have a romantic moment at one stage but her boyfriend was a big kiwi
an indian chap came up to us whilst we were doing the photography bit and offered to take one of us and then proceeded to lead us around taking photos we didnt really want, when i finally got the camera back he flashed a bit of plastic saying he was an official photographer and wanted 500 rupees ... i told him where to go and it wasnt anywhere sacred
back to the hotel for breakfat and way by 9.30 for another 6 hour drive to jaipur, i was all photgraphed out after yesterdays stint and once youve seen one family of 12 in a shoe box youve seen them all
when we got to jaipur our driver took us to monkey temple which was the most extraordinary place, its built up the top of a gorge and all the young kids are shaking your hands and saying heloo, the ladies all went to the small lake to cleanse themselves, it really was a great place but sadly badly falling in ruin.
we are going to tiger fort in a minute to see the city from the top so i'll let you know later how it went.
i will also try to put some photos on but hold your breath.
