Finally in New york! We have already done so much here. After landing i was whisked away from the airport in a massive black private car, leather interior etc and delivered home with Rachel!! It was very welcome after having spent 2 hours getting through airport security, which for the record i think is utterly ridiculous! The fingerprints and retina things i can understand, but the angry chinese guy who basically iterrogated me was a little unnecessary! Once back, we went for dinner at a very old school pizza parlour called Patsy's. An old dude on the table next to us was celebrating his 65th birthday, was called louis, and they all seemed like an old gangster mob! very amusing. i heard many phrases like 'no problem'! Then we went for some drinks in the West village, which is very lovely. We went for a drink at the Spotted pig, which is that chef's pub - mar..... something - willl update when i find out!

Saturday we went for breakfast at a cafe and people watched, which was great. The trucks here are like from the movies, and there are sooo many little dogs around! In the evening we then headed down to Brooklyn for a birthday party. Rachels friend has an amazing apartment with a roof top terrace, so we watched the sun set over the NY skyline with wine and cheese! very very sophisticated. There i met a guy who has been a photographer over here for many years, and photo editor of FHM magazine. I was telling him all about my new photography obsession and how i dont really know how to use my camera. So kindly next week he is taking me on a shoot (as he has the same camera as me) and is going to teach me how to use it in different lights etc - VERY EXCITING!

Hmmm, then yesterday we went on a massive shopping expedition. We went down only a fraction of Broadway and Soho, and it was exhausting! Things here are either very cheap, or very expensive! There are alot of high end shops which the price tags are double london prices, but then there are gap - type shops which are extremely cheap. I only bought two tops, and am holding out for my perfect leather jacket! Many many places to try yet! The security guards on the shops are crazy too - all wired, suited and booted like men in black! the funniest thing though was a massive new Topshop which has opened here recently!! The prices however are NOT cheap! The shoe section is office - not that great as far as i'm concerned, and a pair of 70 quid boots was priced at $200!! However they all had the tag 'office LONDON' on it though, and they were abusing the kate moss thing massively!! One great thing i have noticed here though is that clothes are actually small enough to fit me!!! So far i am a small here - NOT an XS!! its great, although there must be some skinny girls out there as they go to XXS - crazy.

After exhausting ourselves, and not much to show for it, we headed home. After crashing on the sofa for a bit, we decided to go and see Whip It, the new drew barrymore film about roller derby's in texas. It was extremely funny and found myself laughing out loud all the way through, which is very unusual! Rachel used to Roller derby in London, and we are going to see the NY Gotham Girls team in a few weeks, so it was a perfect introduction to this crazy and quite violent sport! wierdly though, there was a trailor for 'the boat that rocked' which is only just coming out here! very strange.

We then went for spag bol and a glass of wine afterwards. It really does seem like you can get anything at any time of day or night here! So, we have Kylie tickets for tomorrow night, and plans to catch a few more bands like La roux, go to Bronx zoo, a halloween haunted house nights, along side the usual touristy stuff i hope to get around to doing when i decide to leave the flat! I thought i would be straight onto liberty and all the hot spots, however i feel too relaxed and dont as yet feel the urgency to get those done straight away and also feel a cold coming from the very lovely german lady who was sitting next to me on the plane coughing her guts up - typical.

Oh! Celebrity update - Have so far seen Helena Christensen (she actually offered us her table in a pub as she was leaving - so technically 'we had a drink with her!')Miranda from Sex and the city - walking down the street. She really is that pale and skinny in real life!It is colombus day here today, so most people are off for bank holiday. There is apparently a massive parade down 5th ave, which is not too far from the apartment, so am planning to grab a massive salad and go explore central park and wait for the parade!

Am also loving the endless re-runs of fresh prince of bel air, and saved by the bell which seems to be standard morning tv here - just like 'friends' and home i suppose! I will endevour to update this blog thing as a record what goes on, just so i don't forget this when i moan how dull my life is in a years time! But that may include ramdom stuff no one else has any interest in - so for that i apologise in advance! take care y'all. x
