Arriving in to Prague quite late at night we wandered around the streets trying to find a place to stay. After some confusion on directions, we found a hostel with a very strange owner but with a great location. We settled into our room where we met a strange Ukranian guy who obviously wanted to practise his english on us. We spent the next day walking through the old town of Prague. Words like "fairy tale city" are thrown around in guide books but it really is rather breathtaking. It's a very picturesqe city with a castle and lots of medievil architecture. We were also lucky enough for some festival to be going on in the main square, with traditional food and drinks tents - not wanting to miss out on any cultural activities, Garry of course tried nearly all the food and drink available.

Seeing as Czech people are so proud of their beer making abilities, we thought it would be culturally important to visit the main breweries to try some of the local produce. We went to a little town called Ceske Budejovice where the Budweiser brewery is located. Not to be confused with American Budweiser who stole the name, it is a much higher quality beer. The second brewery was in a town called Plzen, the beer called Pilsner Urquell. Both tours were great and we got to taste the unfiltered unpasteurised brews.

After a few days in the Czech Republic we made our way to Krakow, Poland. We arrived in Krakow stupidly early in the morning, and had trouble finding a hostel that would let us check in straight away. After dragging our bags around for over an hour we were lucky to find a place. The main reason for coming to Krakow was to visit Aushwitz/Birkenau. It's hard to put into words but it is a must do if you're ever in the area. Unfortunately the tour was a little rushed but it is well worth doing and tries to illustrate an important yet horrifying part of our history.

After our couple of days here, we were off to Tallin on a very very long yet surprisingly comfortable bus journey. In our hostel on the first night, we met the strangest Greek guy who now lives in Australia. He decided it would be a great idea to show Carol his favourite picture from his trip in India, which was some local women bathing in the river, and the reason for this being his favourite photo was because you could see through their clothes, just what we want for our coming trip to India! He also thought it would be a good idea if Carol got rid of Garry for a night in Africa and stayed a night in one of the many brothels. Strange man!

Tallin itself is a beautiful old town, a little cheesy at some points with people in medievil outfits. Its also rather cold, and very popular with the Finnish people as its so close on the ferry (80km) and quite a cheap country for them to visit, which has led to the nickname Tallinski. Somehow we managed to come across a pancake restaurant that sold fosters beer while we were here which is of course a highlight for any Australian!

From here, we were off on the long journey to Tromso involving a ferry and two planes....
