Good bye 5 star hotels... Hello real world.

Day 3……On the way to Colmar, France….after a fantastic breakfast with fantastic views we were on our way to Colmar, France. We had a little bit of a difficult road change which forced me into a power U-Turn, which brought me to an intersection which I found out was a no left turn intersection. This of course was a mere moment of excitement for Gail (she will kill me this year) after I made an illegal left turn and ran over some little bitty rubber things with reflectors on them that separated lanes (Alana tell Loraine she would be proud). Gail is now taking over…They were not little bitty, but tall, at least two feet maybe be bigger, reflectors…I could not believe that Larry ran over three of them… Thank goodness it did not hurt the car…Larry will live for another day.

We arrived in Colmar and the St. Martin Hotel is in an area with limited auto access. I dropped Gail off because I could not stop in front of the hotel at the moment (two police and a car in the way with 3 behind me) so I went on and found that the Garmin, once

you arrive does not want to recalculate. I drove on a little bit to the corner of “lost in France”, but stopped to re-set the direction (Gail had the passports). The town is like Disney without the rides. We lunched at La Kritenau in Petit Venice on the canal (see another food pix). We saw two beautiful churches - St. Martin Cathedral erected in 1235 and lit a candle for us and all our friends and family. We also saw a Dominican Church, which was unfortunately closed on Tuesday.

We then went to the Unterlinden Museum which houses the “Isenheim Alterpiece” completed in “1515”. You have to see it to believe it; the Germans know this painting like the Americans know the “Mona Lisa”.

We did have difficultly figuring out the parking cost. Larry parked in public parking and we kept putting in money all day! I hope the car is still there in the morning or I will kill him. No jury in America will convict me if something happens to the car!!!

That was the day………. Day 4 the Burgandy Region and Beaune. Cheers everybody!!!!!

suitcase
Wish I could have crawled in your suitcase! The pics are beautiful and I love the town - must put on the short list of places to go before I die. For some reason American MEN drive crazy in Europe - you have to watch them. Hugs and Love Kathie

I love the flower boxes. I guess one of the things that amazed me most were all the beautiful flowers everywhere. And I also love the fact that there are no strip malls on every corner. It is just so quaint and untouched looking. Progress has ruined our country!!!

Don't you love it?
The pictures are great. I know you are having a good time. I had to laugh out loud at Larry running over those three rubber reflectors. Gail, I know you wanted to kill him. However, driving in a foreign country isin't easy especially when the road sings are in another language. Did I miss a picture of your new car, or have you not posted one yet?If
