hi all.

We are settling into Banff and looking forward to the next few months, learning how to snowboard, snowmen, snowball fights, eggnog, etc. Last week it was 32 degrees but today it is 6 and we are surrounded by clouds and 'flurry' snow that melts before it hits the ground, and the mountains are all snowy and needless to say it is very cold and it is only going to get colder.

Beck and Pip are here with us now which is really nice, we are currently all sharing a room at the hostel, which has been fun, like having a slumber party everynight. Pip is making pizzas at night which is going to leave him plenty of time to 'shred the pow*' during the day. (*we are all taking a snowboarding slang for dummies course so we don't stand out too much) We all now have snowboards on laybuy and are slowly paying them off with snow gear and boots etc, but the weather is getting cold fast and we might need our jackets sooner rather than later. Bec is looking for work but enjoying having some time off to see the sights.

We went to one of local pubs for the grandfinal with about 100 other Aussies which needless to say was a little heartbreaking, note that there are no photos from after the game as it was too destressing. Everyone bar some stupid irish blokes were cheering for the saints so the mood was very sombre afterwards.

The wildlife here is still amazing, there were two reindeers in the car park of our hostel the other night when i came home from work, apparently they had been fighting each other so I walked a big loop around them, but it was pretty amazing.

We just signed the lease for a place for the winter, we got it through some friends of ours who are leaving. It is a two bedroom basement apartment, very cosy, fully furnished and big bedrooms to cater for all the visitor it appears we are going to have for christmas. We are keeping our eyes open for cheap mattresses, we think we might have to cover the carpet in mattresses to accommodate for everyone. Our registered guests so far are Danni, Brigid, Dan McKenna, maybe Matt Clinch and Katie Flanagan. Apparently it is traditional here to have Turducken for christmas, turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken - i dont think we will be having that, but we might have to have a turkey at least. we are looking forward to going out to pick a christmas tree and bring it home to decorate.

Love to everyone back home, keep the emails coming, we like the updates, once we get this new place we will be on skype all the time and will hopefully be able to chat more often.

Lots of Love Cate (Vince, Beck and Pip)

wow
hi Kate, Looks like you are in another fantastic spot. We are all plodding a bit here as you can imagine but life goes on and am wrapt you're having such a great time. We are coming to the end of school hols so back to work. It will be good to have a bit of routine. Lachie is quickly learning how to be a couch potato and dog Pepe curls up wherever there's a space. It doesn't have to be big!! I'm thinking of asking Georgia to design a handbag for him to be carried around in! Take care, love Helen.
