Mega nights sleep!
So we are off to the "Bangkok Hilton" this morning/ afternoon..............
Its a 45 min boat ride down the river which was fab.................. and very cheap cheap!
The prison is situated in Nonthaburi.
Well when we approached the prison I could not believe it- it was like all the films and books I had read about it! It was a bizarre feeling as you never kinda get it into your head that this place really exsists and here I was standing at the front gates!!!!!!!! It was a bit of a mission at first as they told us we couldn't visit unless we had a name of a prisoner. we called the English Embassy but no answer so we tried to find the internet so we could look one up............ That was a mission and a half as there are no westerners in this area, which is quite daunting, so no real need for internet but eventually we found and also found a few English prisoners names but the one that really stuck out was Michael Connell, 19 when arrested and been in the prison for 2 yrs, he is from Bury, Manchester. That was
who we were going to visit!

I didnt want to go through with it but thank God Vix persisted as I now wouldn't have missed it for the world!
We went into the shop and bought him a food package- what do you buy someone who you have never met before and is in prison?! But i'm sure he would be grateful for anything! Would it reach him though/
So we were a bit late as a result of all the set backs we had had earlier so would only get 5-10 mins with Michael. Our bags were locked away and we walked towards the visiting area which was nicely kitted out with trees and flowers unlike the interior of the "real" prison! The set up wasn't how I imagined......... there were rows of booth type thingg, glass, bars, strip of concrete, bars, glass then the prisoner, we were to talk through phones to each other.......... we waited for Michael to be collected. there were quite a few people there visiting relatives/ friends.......................... We got chatting to a Sweedish girl and Kiwi guy, they had come along with
someone they had met who has been visiting a guy for 7 yrs when ever he is in Bangkok on business.
O my gosh there was Michael! A thin boy with a shaved head- 21yrs old! When he spoke he had a strong Bury accent- sad to hear. Well what do youask this boy????? How are you/ What have you been up to?! It was very difficult at first but he was very chatty but got very upset instantly and although he had done something wrong (and should be punished) I feel very upset too and had to pass the phone to Vix......................... I couldn't and still can't believe that we spoke to him and that he is stuck in there for his sentence of 99 yrs!!!!!!!! Don't want to put all of our conversation on the web...... but will chat to you guys when we speak or when I get home.......................... Very glad Vix persisted with finding a name though as it was definately an experience..................
We both left very tearful as the phones had cut off mid conversation as visiting time was over.................
We headed back with the 3 people we had just met who
were also visiting and had some Arminian food- girls I indulged in the Falaffel and thought lots of our little visits to Trof fallowfield!
On walking back to our road the main one was closed for literally 2 mins to let the Princess drive through! Was lovin this!
Indulged in a foot massage, pedicure and manicure which when writing this now feels very unappropriate, after where we had just visited.
Met up with new little friends (Sasha, Ram and Karon)in the evening for dinner and drinks and met more randoms! (O just want to get the story straight before any rumours start flying!!!!- That little random on pic was just possing like that for the photo!!!!!) Can see my mother cursing me know!!!!

i cried when i read this blog not because that bloke had his tongue down your ear,but because of michael someone i will never meet,but it brought back memories of a woman i have met who spent 4 years in that same prison.she too had a 99year sentance but received a kings pardon after 4.mum xxxxx
