OK, for all of you who don't know yet... I quit my job in China. Yep. Big news. It was just not working out the way I thought it would. Living in Shenzhen was definitely a great experience. The food, the cheap rent, the cheap EVERYTHING actually, my adorable little students.... but that's about it. The city itself lacked a lot of culture and life, which is what I wanted most. Granted, Shenzhen is a brand new, 25 year old city, with absolutely no history. Just a melting pot of people from all over China who were sick of picking rice all day back home and have come in search of opportunity in China's richest city... The Chinese dream! Then there's the rest that already have successful jobs and drive around all day in their Mercedes' and BMW's. Then there's me, and the 10 or 11 other foreigners in the city, who are their looking for an adventure and an experience of a lifetime. Well, one out of two ain't bad. It was definitely an adventure. One that I am so grateful to have experienced, just not really what I wanted. I think people go to Shenzhen primarily to work, and I mean wooooorrrrk. My school made sure I worked every single minute of my 11 hour days. Having a life is not an option for the Shenzen people, because making money is more important. Now this is completely understandable, but it was just not what I had in mind. On top of that I had a horrible boss, who hated life, and since work was her life (like everyone else) it was completely understandable... But since she felt the need to let all her frustrations out on me, I had to leave. I waited for Chris to get back from Thailand and we were out!
I moved across the border to Hong Kong. Best decision of my life! I have officially been here for two weeks and this city is great. I am living, working and having a grand ole' time. Stay tuned. I have lotsa stories to share! xoxo

Hi there
Bravo, girl! Life is too short to waste. You came, didn't like it, you left. No sense agonizing over it. HK is just a short train ride away, but it is so full of life. A bit expensive though, though it used to be a shopping mecca long before you were born ;). Hurry up with your stories! don't make us wait too long [:)]
