Hey guys,
Well I know you might have thought the next blog was going to be about Moshi and Mt. Kilimanjaro but unfortunately there won't be one. We left Zanzibar and arrived in Moshi pretty excited to some trekking on Kili but the weather just would not co-operate with us. We ended up staying there for two days waiting out the weather and it only changed for the worst. We never got to do any hiking due to the super rain fall and to make it even worse we never even saw Mt. Kilimanjaro the whole time we were there 😞 It sucked pretty bad. So do me a favour and find a picture on line of it and enjoy it for us.

We took a shuttle bus from Moshi to Nairobi, Kenya. As always we received a lovely African Massage along the way from all the road construction and we both probably gained 5 pounds from all the dust we swallowed. We survived and that's what counts, we had pre-booked a Safari from a reference we received from another blogger on this site. So we left right away for our Safari into the Masai Mara National Park. Once again we were blessed with an excellent group of people and when you're spending 3 days together in a safari van that is pretty important.

Our Safari starts as we drive through the great Rift Valley and onwards to the Masai Mara. Kenya is home to the Masai Tribe and along the way we saw a lot of them as we passed through their villages. We would have loved to have more pics to show you but it is really irresponsible to take pictures of people without their permission and also the Masaii will throw rocks/spears at your vehicle if they see a camera so best not! Once we arrived at our camp we were all pretty impressed since we were told we would be sleeping in tents, and although they were tents, they were huge tents with beds, an ensuite, electricity and hot water!

That afternoon we set out to do a short game drive before the park closed. We lucked out with our driver as well, Moses was very good, well informed and willing to drive us anywhere to see the big game animals. Our first drive did spoil us as we saw all of the big five except for a rhino fairly quickly. The leopard was amazing and we were all glad to have seen it since they are very hard to spot and not guaranteed on any Safari. The next day was another excellent day as we saw over 20 lions, lots of buffalo, giraffes, zebras and tons of birds. The park itself is very beautiful as the landscape changes from hills and grasslands to golden plains. This park is also well known for its annual Wildabeast migration which is currently going on, we never witnessed the mass river crossing which is supposed to be really cool but we did see thousands of Wildabeast all over the park roaming in herds of a few dozen to a few hundred. Our last day was a short morning drive and then we returned to Nairobi. The whole Safari was awesome, and I am glad we decided to do it, good group, good guide and lots of good memories.

We have been hanging out in Nairobi the past few days waiting to take off to Cairo. Nairobi is much like other large cities and I don't think it is really as unsafe as it is made out to be. We've had no problems wandering around during the day and at night. We have checked out the local markets and finally caught up on the blogs!!!!!! Tomorrow the blog will only be one day behind! So enjoy them because I really wanted to go golfing here but am stuck in an internet cafe instead! I hope whoever is reading these enjoys them and until the next one take care.

Cheers,
Matt & Tyne

ps: Can you believe we are at the half way mark!

I had to go hand in our park entry stubs at a police checkpoint since our guide was being harrased by the park wardens who wanted a $70 bribe telling him he was driving where we shouldn't be in the park. So I handed in our stubbs at the check point since they were on the look out for him, well obviously not too hard.
