Feed me 'till I want no more...
...and the Ferengis are in the pool 😊

Dave and Dee had very kindly rented both a gite and a car for the week in France.

The main reason was Ondine's wedding of course, but we were also really looking forward to a true, blue skies and beer, trashy novel by the pool-type holiday!

We also were keen to enjoy the variety of food and drink tastes that are generally so limited in Assosa.

- Apples! (golf clap)

- Cheese! (sincere round of applause)

- Bread! (cheers and the odd whistle)

- Crisps! (hoots of "you da man")

- Chocolate! (toss your hats in the air, boys!)

- Uber-cheap, yet quality, French beer! (little jiggy dance of joy)

- Fantastic red wine! (synchronized funky chicken dance round the kitchen)

- and lots of fizzy stuff! (choirs of heavenly angels strumming harps, singing hallelujah!, hallelujah!)

And a swimming pool.

What? What?

Yes! You heard it right. A swimming pool.

Now some volunteers live in Addis and can get themselves to hots baths or posh Hilton Hotel pools.

Some live near hot spings and - how passe
Grape View!Grape View!Grape View!

(sorry, I disgust even myself with some of these crummy puns)
- are tired of splashing around in bubbling hot water.

Some even have a dirty big lake on their doorsteps that they can fall into on a whim.

In Assosa?

Yeah, well. We have a cold shower..

This monkey's gone to heaven

So for a week we lived the life of luxury.

Watched some DVDs on the telly.

Ate.

Drank.

Ate.

Swam a bit.

Swam a bit more.

Sara went off for wine tasting day with Dee, Dave, he sister Jan and hubby, Al and I took the opportunity to have an afternoon by myself, reading in the sun.

Finished Seven Troop by Andy McNabb in one long sitting, then started on Pride and Prejudice with Zombies. Very amusing.

I even had a background buzz of a chainsaw off to the field on the right, which was kind of apt, given I was reading about zombie bashing mayhem.

The owner, Sue, was very friendly and helpful - particularly helping Dave pay a parking ticket in the nearby town (another story) - and giving us tips and advice of what to see and do.

me a peasant, but I was just kind of happy to see the inside of a well-stocked fridge and do...well...absolutely nothing!

So thank-you Dave & Dee!

Along with the kindness and hospitality of everyone back home, particularly Chris & Sue, Dad, Stu & Jo and Dave & Dee, our batteries were recharging ready for another foray into the trials, challenges and pleasures of Kebele 04, Assosa Town, Beneshangul-Gumuz...Ethiopia

And if anyone wants a relaxing week by a pool at the home of good red wine check out the Domaine Les Agathes webby at http://www.domainelesagathes.com .

This one made me laugh till I cried
But for all the wrong reasons 'Al and I took the opportunity to have an afternoon by myself', that's my husband the schizophrenic. Hope you got some peace sounded like it was getting pretty crowded :-)
