Is it a crime to sit in an unplugged massage chair in an airport?

In reference to the title of the blog the answer is yes if you are my Mother...!!

Having arrived at the airport in Quito I was able to check myself and my bags in all the way through to Quito. My only complaint about Ecuador would be that they charge you $40.80USD if you are leaving by international flight it helps throw your budget out the window if you are a backpacker anyway! I then went through immigration which was the longest out of all my crossings as it took me 90 minutes to get through (thankfully I arrived at the airport early).

I had a night flight from Quito that once again stopped in Guayaquil on its way to Santiago. Unfortunately I had an 18 hour layover and having been to Santiago before and not being impressed the first time around I had decided to stay at the airport and save a few pennies in the process. I arrived in Santiago at 5am and so I made my dazed way into the departures lounge and found the airport equivalent of a park bench!! I managed to grab a few hours sleep and then knew I had time to waste. A phone call home and a surf on the internet killed my netbook battery. Thankfully by this time it was 9am and so the shops were starting to open. Thankfully the Bureau de Change was also open so I was able to change some money in order to feed and entertain myself for the rest of the day.

Breakfast down I went in search of a plug socket to recharge my netbook. Despite an extensive search of the airport there were few sockets to be had. I eventually found a free and available one so made use of it on and off for the rest of the day.

Much to my Mums horror the free socket I was using required me to sit in one of those massage chairs you find in airports. In my complete defence the chair was unplugged before I even sat in it also there was another working chair next to me and in all the 15 hours I was in the area it only got used once so I was not robbing the poor little owner of the chair of any money!

Anyway various e:mails later and as Mum was going to bed she told me that I should have a massage to appease my conscience (please note my conscience didn't even tweak as to what I was doing) I did however have a massage before I boarded my flight....

For those of you that a subscribers to this blog I apologise for the 101 e:mails you will have received tsaying I had published a blog but most of the 18 hours were spent catching up on here as i was a few weeks behind.

So my final farewells to South America were done and I boarded my LAN flight to Auckland, New Zealand!

Time is definitely flying by!
It is mad to think that it is 3 and a bit months ago since we were all stood in Heathrow and you tried to take me out with a tackle but failed miserably! Make sure you give Deirdre and huge welcome home as am sure the sights of England after the Galapagos will be truly depressing albeit seeing you and Fuzzy should cheer her up! Enjoy your reunion. Brimster! xx
