Walk to school
this is the start, after going down a big hill from the residence (which means walking back is UP hill) Just a few more days...
Well, I have been playing it easy the past few days. There isn´t going to be too much cultural stuff to this blog. I more or less just wanted to catch you up on what has been going on. You are about to get 2 weeks of almost daily blogs, so beware!
I decided to give you a little bit of a taste of what my life has been like here. I am staying in Residence Carlos V through the University of Granada. It is about a 25-35 minute walk to the center of town (which also happens to be where the school is). Most days I wake up around 745, head down to grab breakfast and start my walk. It is actually a nice walk to take. Sort of neat knowing you are in another country. I try to soak it in. When I get close to the school I have found my coffee place, and I get myself a wonderful coffee...Class begins at 9.
From 9-11 class, then 1130-130 class. During our 30 minute break a group of us usually walk over to a nice cafe for a

This is the next section. To the left is a church tomate (basically half of a good piece of bread, toasted, with some tomato spread on it...Mom, it is good, you will have to taste).
Classes are fun. I enjoy them, I think more for the fact that I feel blessed I get a chance to be there. After our last class we take the 30 minute hike back to the residence in the heat. I am still too stubborn to take the bus. Trying to work off all the bread I am eating!!!
After lunch is SIESTA TIME! I most DEFINITELY take it. Dinner is around 830, then the past few days I have either gone out for a bit, but a new trend has begun and a group of us play cards. I have to say, I really love to play cards...though, Spain has this horrible affect on me and I am LOSING the games! Hopefully that streak will end tonight...😱
Today we had a little culture excursion. It was neat, but I wasn´t allowed to take many pictures. We went to the Abadia del Sacromonte. Today a few priests still live there, but not many. There are a few chapels, and there used to be
Walk to School
Here i get a choice: To the left, walking back in time through the Albaicin on Elvira street (quicker typically) or to the right to walk on Gran Via, the main road law classes taught there. It was pretty neat, but the neatest part was walking through the catacombs. I wish I was allowed to take pictures. There are relics from the beliefs here. There are two rocks, one that when women touch it they are supposed to be married within the year....sorry, I didn´t touch it 😊 I think I need a bit more than a year! Then there is another rock, that when a couple touches it their marriage will end...sort of weird, but funny non-the less.
The Abadia del Sacromonte is in the Sacromonte, above the Albaicin that you read about previously. There are actually caves along the walk that have become restaurants where the shows to see flamenco are held. Apparently it is now one of the safest parts of the city, but more touristy than previously. We may venture up there one night before I head out.
Other than that I have actually just been playing easy. Last night we went out dancing for a little bit, but really I have been resting. I know I have two weeks of fun-filled days with Mama coming! You should see more blogs during those two weeks as
