Well hello there, hows it going?

Im going to update you on the last weeks events..... When we eventually got through customs and into Singapore we headed to Little India, which was cool. My first impressions of Singapore weren't great, I thought it was a bit souless. We checked into our outrageously priced dormroom and went out for tea, as we were staying in Little India, the food that was cheapest and most easily available was, believe it or not, curry. It was tasty though! On the Friday we decided to go to the heart of the city and see a few of the Malls (rhymes with balls, Jerry can't say it correctly, prefering to use "mal", as in french for "bad".) They were huge, and they were plentiful, imagine the Trafford Centre, accross the road from The Trafford Centre, just next to the Trafford Centre, and around the corner is The Trafford Centre....you get the idea. Excitingly I bought a new camera, to replace the stolen one, so that was all very exciting. After a long day of traipsing back and forth throught the various Trafford Centres, we got back on the Light Rail Service. I found the Singaporeans quite rude and unfriendly people, who on the whole werent very helpful and generally just shoved past you and pushed in queues etc. Also all the rules about spitting, littering. smoking etc, it tells you the kind of people that live there if they need to enforce common curteousy by law!! On the Friday evening we did something that Jerry had been fantasising about for most of the trip....we went to Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling. Well Jerry had a Singapore Sling, I had a beer. The bar was really cool, very old fashioned colonial English. It was essentially a dark and dingey bar.... there were peanuts in shells in bowls on the table, which people unpicked, ate the nuts and threw the shells on the floor! The floor was about 3inches deep in Peanuts shells. After a very expensive round of drinks we left.....Jerry didnt like the Singapore Sling.

On the Saturday we went to Singapore Zoo......Amazing. I saw animals that I didnt know existed. There were loads of zones: Safari, Rainforest, Down Under, Arctic, and Under the Sea. As well as the reptile areas. A few of the animals, (Monkeys and Birds and Lizzards ) who were non-dangerous or venomous were free range, so we could get right up close to them. It was really bizarre to be walking round and then hearing and seeing an Orangutan swinging overhead. We saw some Springboks fighting, and took in a few of the shows. The Water Show was my favourite. It was a really good day out, and probably one of the cheapest things you can do in Singapore. In the evening we munched another curry and then went to bed.

Next morning we were up bright and early to get on the plane to Phuket. We arrived in Phuket town and then quickly decided it was rubbish, so got on the bus to Karon Beach. We found a guesthouse, and then sharply went to sleep..... Woke up just in time for the cricket, and spent the evening watching Freddie tearing into them in an Irish Pub. The Monday was our only nice day in Phuket, so we stayed on the Beach and topped up our tans. In the evening, we went back to the Irish Pub to see Freddie put England one up (Get in!!).

The next few days were dull. No two ways about it. Dull. Weather was rubbish, Phuket was expensive and really a bit of a dive. The main event was my Haviana Flip flops that have served so brilliantly as a scale to measure things in all our photos broke. Gutted. The other highlight was a man doing a concert on the street outside a restaurant... no disrespect to the Asian people but they do tend to pronounce the letter "L" as an "R"

Asian Singer: For Twenty Four Years I've been Riving Nextdoor to Arice.

Western Crowd (all almost crying with laughter): Arice? Who the f*** is Arice?

I have to admit, we had a giggle.

We booked to leave for the Friday. On Friday we waited outside our guesthouse, the bus didnt turn up. I went to the booking office and the woman had written us down to go a day later. Jerry saw red..... demanded our money back and threw our stuff on a local bus to Phuket town. (Ironically I'd have been happy to stay the extra day, because it was really sunny for only the second time!) We got to the bus station and got on an overnight bus back to Bangkok. Where we arrived very tired about 9 hours ago..... we have decided to give BKK a go, because we didnt like it 1st time, but we were straight from England and very jet lagged. So we will spend our final 5 days here..... One more blog before we go home I'd imagine....

We only have one plan set in stone for here..... Meet a certain Tom Lamb, with another friend from uni, Scouse Paul, and celebrate Mr Lambs birthday......

Until next time....

Bye.

xx
