Kids and amusement parks work well, even in the rain. M.. drove up from Kiel with J.. and J... E.. was under the weather, so N.. went with W.. from Copenhagen by train. Our Danish friends had not considered Legoland as a day trip. It's only 3 hours by train from Copenagen each way. A day trip means no luggage to haul, and consequently no worries about securing the luggage, finding hotels, booking in, etc. So, day trip it was.

We left our Copenhagen apartment at 05:45 to catch the S-tog to Copenhagen for a 06:50 connection to Vejle and then by bus to Legoland in Billund. The Danish Railway DSB website had said there was a 6 minute walk from the Vejle station to the bus connection in the town center. Turns out the bus terminal is now right outside the train station. Looks like the website needs an update.

Arrived at Legoland just in time for opening at 10:00. M.. and the girls had taken just around 2 hours to drive up from Kiel. No, it's not true that all of Legoland is built of Lego. There are some big Lego structures, such as a giant Chief Sitting Bull, the one who gave Custer his last stand, which had taken 1.4 million lego pieces, a not life sized Mount Rushmore, a giant skull in the pirates zone, and even a lego fountain. Yes, since the rest of Denmark is covered in fountains at every major street corner, Legoland was no exception.

It was a rainy day, but the kids did not even seem to notice. They were wet from the rides anyway. J.. and W..n have similar interests and both liked the same type of rides. So, it was good, since N.. is not a big fan of amusement parks in general and certainly not a fan of rides that spin or go up and down for no good purpose.

Getting back was a bit of an adventure. The S-tog 'A' line did not run as shown on the map. Every one marked 'Farum' would suddenly change it's sign to 'Koge' at Kopenhavn H and go the opposite way. We ended up taking the alternate 'B' line to the Osterport station and finding an 'A' train at that point that did actually head towards 'Farum'. We hit the sack at 23:00.
