Golfing at the club in LA

We got on the road from Calgary on time today.....a first for us! The drive down to L.A. was about 1.5 hours and it was sunny and clear and a beautiful day. We arrived in L.A. around 5 pm and had a tee time for 6:30 pm. Ok, ok...it was Lethbridge, Alberta and the club was a small 9 hole course on an irrigation reservoir on the prairie of southern Alberta. The clubhouse screwed up and our tee time was not available as there was a tournament in progress that was full of duffers who were even worse, and much drunker, than we were (we weren't drunk at all!). So we sat and had a sandwich and then at about 7:15 there were finally a couple of carts for us to use and we hit the links. We played 7 holes before the sun set and the mosquitos ran us off the course. It was fun and we hit some good ones....Ken much more than me, of course! Came back to Paul and Brenda's apartment and am about to hit the sack. Heading south tomorrow morning and will be in Idaho Falls, Idaho tomorrow night. The vacation has begun!

excellent planning
Looks like your vacation has an excellent beginning!! We just returned from a week of camping with a rented campervan. Yah, I managed to get Dana away from his computer for nearly 7 days.... amazing. We learned alot on our first RV experience and I think I did a good job of planning our trip. Saw Joan, Dave, Kathleen and Addison, they are doing well. Exciting to renew our friendship. Looking forward to reading of your trip and seeing how far you guys drive each day and what sights you are taking in. Drive carefully and have a great time!! Love Laurie
