Departure date was July 17th so I started saying my goodbyes early.. Good times spent with friends and family. Lots of final indulgences.. South Beach fish tacos, Souplantation, In and Out, Pizza, Tapas, Bobatime, Newcastles and Amstel lights, Pick Up Stix, Mexican Food, Versailles Cuban food, blue crab eggs benedict at Cody's, Mom's cooking, Ra Sushi, Vegas, wine bars and wine tasting and lastly Starbucks (which happens to only be 2 blocks from my apartment here in China...thank god). The goodbyes started in May around my birthday time. Chris and I spent the day in Disneyland, something I have been begging him to do for a while. A few days later all my closest friends gathered together on a big party bus to go wine tasting in Temecula. A perfect way to celebrate my 24th. Lots of champagne and wine made for an amazing/drunken celebration. I spent June getting ready for the trip. Got my visa sorted out, did lots of medicine and toiletry shopping, sold my car and bought a one way ticket to Hong Kong. That was it...I was in it for the long haul.
First two weeks in July were crazy busy. Did a mini trip to San
Francisco to see the Chilean crew (Erica and Alex) and reunite with old friends (Arely and Becca) before I left. Sipped on Pisco, drank wine and strolled through a nature museum at night, partied the night away all over Mission District, and ate lots of yummy blueberry pancakes with Erica at her corner breakfast nook. A few days before China, my wonderful mom threw me a little going away party. Lots of yummy kind-of-Chinese food. I say 'kind-of' because my Salvadorian mother has never cooked Chinese food in her life, so it had a Salvadorian flare. Lots of hard work on my mother's part and on Fran's part, who suffered minor burn injuries after attempting to fry the won tons (thanks again Franny). All my friends and familia, whom I love so much, were there to see me off. Thank you everyone for the support. I love you all! Besos!
