A full day in Port Douglas, and its time to hit the beach.
We walked across the road and explored the local suburbs as the beach was very near, we just weren't quite sure exactly where it was. Eventually we found the beach path and came out onto a tropical beach, complete with coconuts.
The braver amongst us ventured out for a swim, it was pretty hot and the forecast was for 29C.
Certainly things dried very quickly once we came out.
After that we went into the town and had some lunch and stocked up with drink and essentials.
We then went back to the villa and chilled out a bit while the sun was at its hottest and had an ice cream. Then later on we went out to the other side ofr Port Douglas to take a look at the palms and the beach there.
Tomorrow we move up the coast a bit to the Daintry river and cape tribulation.

Hi
Thanks for your email, the pictures in your latest blog look stunning - very tropical even if it did not feel like that. Have just returned from our staff away day - only in one of the halls on campus. Lots of small groups (no group hugs thankfuly or silly games) and flip charts followed by presentations. Useful in some ways - the school is trying to develop a research strategy and wants individuals to sign up into groups of 5-8. Not a problem for me as I already collaborate with a group in neuroscience but a number of glum faces for those who are not sure where they are going to fit in. The fun will start when we get down to specifics. Off to France tomorrow so probably won't be able to view your blog - hope you continue to have a good time. Peter
