We stopped here after leaving Karratha on our way to Broome, it was just over 120kms North of Port Hedland. It was a station stop so it was only $45 for a week or $17.50 for a day so we thought we may as well do a week as we are in no hurry and the ranger at the gates kinda talked it up a little to us. But once we arrived it was a bit of a let down as there were limited sites that were on flat land, most were on a slight hill or full of rocks. But we finally found our spot and set up.
Most (well actually all) of our neighbours were 60+ so no play mates for Ax and pretty quiet. we had a fire every night so we needed to be collecting fire wood every day and 1 day we wend down the sand dunes to start collecting and alls well but on our way up Troy went 1 track and me and Ax went the one next to him and i told Ax to go first incase he slides down i can grab him, well as i was looking down where to
put my feet i saw where Axel had just put his foot (BARE FOOT) right on a "TIGER SNAKE" well i just froze!!!!!! shouted to Troy "snake" and sussed out if Ax had been bitten but he said no and just came closer so he could look at the snake. It was only a bubba about 30-40cm but yes i know it still could do alot of damage!!!!!!! Axel was just soo lucky cause he had no shoes on and stood right on the snake.
So from now on he knows to wear his shoes EVERYWHERE!!!! but still likes to tell everyone about his near miss.
