A Glorious Day in Acadia National Park

As cold, wet and dreary as yesterday was, today was bright and sunny. Blue skies and warm temps are a welcome change.

After stopping at the Visitor Center for Acadia National Park, we headed for the Park Loop Road and went up Cadillac Mountain with its spectacular vistas. We saw the Schoodic Peninsula (where we were yesterday in the rain) and Bar Harbor and the Cat Ferry that goes to Nova Scotia. We admired the islands in Frenchman Bay (including Egg Rock with its lighthouse) and the islands to the southwest (Greater Cranberry, Little Cranberry, Bakers and Sutton.) We could see most of Mt. Desert Island to the north and Eagle Lake. We spotted Otter Cove, Seawall, and lots of boats.

After coming down off of Cadillac Mountain, we drove the Park Loop Road down the east side of the island, stopping at Thunder Hole, Otter Point, and Otter Cove. What beautiful scenery; rocks, waves breaking, sea gulls, and lobster floats. It seems everywhere there was water, there were lobster floats.

After leaving the park road, we enjoyed seeing Seal Harbor and Northeast Harbor and their beautiful boats, many of which look an awful lot like ours. We stopped at the grocery before heading back to the campground, where Ethan is swimming happily in the pool. A wonderfully, gorgeous day on a spectacular island.

Headed that Way!
Don't absorb all the beauty... I'm headed that way in September!!!! We are both drooling!!!!
