We made the road from Khajuraho to Satna by jeep, we have hired, in three hours. At Satna railway station we spent more than three hrs. There is almost nothing to see in Satna. It is a crowdeed and boring town for us. We spent the night on train with a nice friend from Italy. At last we arrived in Varanasi. The train station is about 5km away from the Ghats. Ghats are the downstairs leading into Gange River. One can take a walk by the river on Ghats almost without any cut . Early in the morning before sunrise we got a boat ride for two hrs. charged 200 inR per person. At the sun rise the believers were bathing in the holly waters. Some were washing clothes.
We had a lunch at the roof of a hotel by the river watching the holly Gange. A guide we have employed for half day took us to Varanasi University that has 232 departments. At the center of the university
Shri Viswanath Temple. It is really an impressive art. People were praying in crowds at the temple. We visited few other temples of least importance. We tried to visit the Golden Temple,
Shri Viswanath Temple
at Varanasi University because of the narrow streets and crowds, not allowing camera and cell phones, we were not able to enter. In the afternoon at the Ghats we watched the burning ceremonies. They put the dead bodies on the wooden piles wrapped in a piece of cloth. We were not allowed to take any photos at the ceremony and almost inside all the temples.
We left very India; Varanasi by night train to Delhi.
