Road Blocks

Argghhh. 9 months of planning and it´s civil unrest that gets me unstuck. Due to the horror stories I ´ve heard about getting from Cuzco to Puno/Arequipa recently I´ve decided to give going from Cuzco to Puno a miss. Instead I think I´ll head west and end up flying from Lima to La Paz. It´ll cost me a bit more, but some of the stories I´ve heard include walking for 56km and having to pay for a new bus on the other side. Now as much of an athlete as I am, I don´t think I´ll ever be keen to walk 56km in the dark, in a country where I don´t really speak the language, where I´m trying to avoid drunken men with guns who are fuelled up on booze. Let alone pay for it!

On another note. Did the Inca trail, it was Oarsome. When I´m not so lazy i´ll post a bunch of pics.

Rough
About all the strikes. You're all about the timing mate. And seriously you're blog is starting to look like a food blog. Although now you've done the Inca trail you don't have to worry about your fitness any more. Is the civil unrest only in Peru?

Timing
You wouldn´t believe me if I said timing was impeccable... Turns out that at the time of writing the blog they had lifted the strikes for 3 days, so I could have actually gone east wiuthout a hitch(well slowly cos you gotta dodge the rocks on the road). I don´t have much of a choice with the fitness, I´ve got nothing to do all day, so a large amount of my time I spend wondering around trying to find a place to eat.... I´d be walking a good 10km a day looking for food.
