The day began in spectacular style with a cup of Tetley tea and marmite on toast. We made up a picnic and headed into Yosemite Valley. We went on a couple of treks round the valley floor and were happy not to encounter a mountain lion or bear that had forgotten to hibernate! We walked to the base of the Lower Yosemite Falls and later trekked (in the snow) out to Mirror Lake, which had fantastic reflections of the surrounding mountains. The scenery is stunning and we could have spent a lot longer here trekking around, although at this time of year it's cold, snowy and icy, and we didn't really have the clothing or equipment to tackle some of the trails which were out-of-bounds due to the ice. That evening we had more of the wine and Louisa ate her birthday olives.
