Well where to start, flight from Albury to Sydney only took 37 minutes and we ended up staying at the Sydney International airport, pretty basic accommodation with basic meals, great for a one night stay and that's about it.

Our flight to NZ was good and only took a few a hours and smooth all the way, when flying in I expected to see mountains but all we saw was water, rain and clouds but i am sure it would be a great place to visit for 8 hours but not now.
We were unloaded off the plane shuffled into a waiting lounge and boarded our Chile flight again 45 minutes later.

The actual flight from NZ to Chile took around 10 hours and we hit some nice turbulance about half way across and then we were bugged for the next 5 hours thinking, if this plane has to land somewhere....well it's the Pacific, we really had no other choice nothing for thousands of miles...hehe.

So after 10 nours of flying and eyes hanging out our heads we saw land, we came into Chile and as the plane turned, we could see the snow capped Andes outside our window. The mountains are huge and it's a great site to see, they just go on for ever, it was just a shame it was over cast and raining in Chile as on a clear day I am sure Chile would look magnificent.

After we landed we had 8 hours to kill befoer our next flight, we though about going into Santiago, but with this weather it would have been a waste of money and not much could have been achieved. ( I'm drinmking Pisco Sour now, I think it's going to my head) Anyway 24 hours had passed and we still haven't slept, I would say around 30 minutes in total for both of us. To kill 8 hours we tried out a food place where we scoffed down some food ( jeff eats fast Tammy!) and had a couple of local beers in about 1 litre mugs, I am sure we got ripped of when paying for this meal as we only has USD and not Chile money (whatever it is) after that we just wandered aimlessly through the terminal amusing each other.

Well we boarded our Peru flight and we hit the skies again for another 4 hour flight, turbulance again...bugged eyed again! Jeff was watching movies and i managed to sleep for about 1 hour...I don't think I was snoring if I was the man next me would have been horrified.

We landed in Peru and took about an hour to get through customs which wasn't a problem, they didn't seem to care to much going through and didn't even check our luggage. I told jeff that there would be a man standing in the terminal with my name on a sign...well I have never seen so meny people cram into a terminl and about 5000 people had signs. We were both stunned and started laughing, it was as though you were a movie star and 5000 people had turned out to see you and all eyes were watching your every move and I felt like waving and blowing kisses to them. Jeff spoted my name which was at the bottom of a board and we were shuffled off to our waiting Taxi. The weather outside was nice and around 16 degrees so it was pleasant.

The drive to our accomodation was interesting as per normal Taxi drivers go flat out and it was hard getting used to left hand drive again..and the traffic was like Vietnam revisted. we have never seen so many crapped out old cars on the road and it's a wonder they still go, this also includes Taxis...our was good though, we had a "safe Taxi company". We arrived at Miraflore House around 12:30am and by then we didn't feel tired any more as we had passed that stage and onto the delirous stage.

when we pulled up all we say where huge red Iron Gates, security cameras, High walls and electric fence surrounding it...This Taxi driver has dropped us off at prison and this is where we are going to spend the reast of our lives i thought and I think Jeff thought the same as he didn't say a word. Anyway the Taxi driver hopped out and buzzed the door and we were let in By Ali...the lady host. ( Jeez, this is where I wish we new Spanish). The hostel is certainly unique and we both think it is great, so much nostalgia throughout and very hard to explain and you certainly feel safe here in Prison. We had to show passports, have our photo taken and measured for the undertaker etc. (Only Joking Ed, don't have long coffins here for Jeff)

We had to sign the register and saw that there were 3 New Zealanders here somewhere. Also there were 3 germans sitting around and as per germans didn't say much (didn't mention the war), also a couple of other girls and not sure of their nationality. We were shown our room which was just off the lounge or close enought to be in it ( I love ear plugs) so after about 20 minutes it was so great to peel off our underwear and shirts after 32 hours in them and no sleep.

When we first saw the beds "what no linen?" but it was made so tight you couldn't see it. Bed was soft, well used but very clean and the pillows were soooo soft. Jeffwas asleep in about 10 minutes and I was lying there listening to the germans until they finally turned in.

I have to go now as I can't find the bloody USB port to upload photos, I will do this in the morning when Jeff is still sleeping and also fill you all in on Day 1 in interesting Lima

Pisco Sour
Could get used to the drink very easily, made with fresh lemons and some sort of rum, very easy to drink and sneaks up on you
