Welcome to my travel blog! I am new at blogging but I look forward to the opportunity to share my adventures with friends and family back home. Before I leave I wanted to give a brief overview of my itinerary:
Tomorrow morning I depart from Dulles and fly through Tokyo to Bangkok, arriving there on the night of June 3rd. I am meeting my friend Brian from school at the airport and we will be heading into the city together to find accommodations. We will spend that night and the next in Bangkok doing some sightseeing and picking up supplies as necessary. There are a couple of Buddhist temples that I am hoping to visit as well as the Royal Palace. On June 4th we will depart by train to the Surat Thani province in Southern Thailand. From there we will travel by boat to the islands off the coast and island hop for about 10 days or so, mostly on Koh Samui, Koh Tao, and Koh Pha Ngan. Then it is back on the train to Kuala Lumpur, where we will stay for one night before flying to Hangzhou China (just outside of Shanghai). The next day my program starts and I begin classes on the globalization of Shanghai, economics and Chinese language as well as an internship with Group Trade Ltd a company that focuses on importing specialty food and wine from South America to Asia. During the program we also take many weekend sightseeing and hiking trips around China.
Well I need to finish packing but I promise that future entries will be more interesting than this one. I will be sure to post lots of pictures on this site as well as on facebook. Keep in contact, I have full access to email and Skype for the duration of the trip. I can't tell you how excited I am to get on the plane tomorrow!
