Hi all and greetings from Tulum in Quintana Roo! I pitched up here, late on Wed night with no reservation, smart move eh!? I got the van driver to take me to a few places by the beach, most of which were closed by the time I arrived. After 4 attempts I managed to find some cabanas at an eco-tourism place. I was tired by this time so just paid up front for the cabana. There was no electricity so it was pitch black and I could barely make out what I was staying in. Anyway I went to bed and despite what felt like sand in the bed I had a good nights sleep. In the morning I awoke to find the 'sand' was actually what looked like mouse crap and dead spiders! I managed to last a second night but after trying to avoid what looked like flying cockroaches I cracked, left in the morning and checked into a fivesstar hotel down the road...the aircon has never felt so good! Despite this, the beach was amazing and I enjoyed a couple of trips to the local Mayan ruins. Tomorrow I head off to Flores in Guatemala and hope to
see the mother of all Mayan ruins at Tikal.

That's bloody hilarious. Sorry for laughing but it sounds really funny from my end.
