Dear Friends,
Situated on the slope of Hong Kong's highest mountains in the New Territories you find the Kadori Farm an Botanical Garden. It's located near the town of Tai Po and the 'farm'is a sprawling green sanctuary established by the wealthy Kadorie brothers to help poor local farmers.
But before we reached the farm we enjoy, for a little while, a traditional Chinese wedding ceremony in one of the old parts of Tai Po Market.
We took a few pictures of that ceremony.
Back to the Kadori Farm.
Just inside the maingate you can get a taste of bygone farming days of Hong Kong by visiting the Farm Museum featuring fascinating pictures and old farm implements.
The farm has pioneered growth methods in Hong Kong and helped introduce local strains of pigs and chickens that you can see in their pens. Follow the sigposts in the lower part of the farm and you can make a great nature trail.
The farm extends up the side of the mountain and the higher parts can be reached by a free shuttle bus, but you have to book in advance. The shuttle works on a first come
base.
When you go to the top you can visit the Kadorie Brothers Memorial Pavilion and enjoy fantastic and stunning views of the countryside. The higher area features a wood and scrubland, which is a conservation area.
Don't forget to visit the beautiful butterfly garden and the orchid garden.
To reach the Kadori farm: go by MTR to Tai Po Market and take bus 64K and get off at the Kadori Farm stop.
We are sure you have a great day visiting this great nature reserve.
We have had another great day.
Enjoy the pictures and stay tuned for more traveladventures.
From Hong Kong with love.
Monkey and Bear.
