Saturday, May 2nd

This morning we went to a shopping mall 20mins walk from our hotel. This turned out to be a momentous occasion. Here, at long long last, Ferdi had some KFC (yes, it was all he had hoped it would be and more)! We also found a hair-clipper (it cost less than Ferdi's last haircut!) and bought tickets for the new X-Men film (in English, we checked) later this afternoon.

After lunch we read in our room (it was just too hot to be outside) and had a short nap. We went back to the cineplex, got some popcorn and iced-Milo, smuggled in some Smarties we had bought from the supermarket, then sat back (in reclining seats) to enjoyed the movie. Before the movie started though, we had to stand to pay tribute to the king while the national anthem played. The Thai people sure love their king (too bad he doesn't run the country). The movie was great but the air-con in the cinema was set like a butchers meat-locker: freezing. By the end of the film we could hardly feel our toes. We blessed the tropical heat as we left the cineplex and by the time we got to dinner we were thawed out again.

It was a wonderful day and for a while, there in the cinema, lost in the film, it felt a little like home.

Today's highlights:
1. Ferdi's KFC.
2. Getting the hair-clipper.
3. Going to the movies.

Sunday, May 3rd

Today was another chill day indoors. It was a little rainy and we badly needed to save some money to compensate for our spending spree during our time in Phuket.

We finished our books and started new ones. We packed and prepared for tomorrows fight to Malaysia. We'll be on flight FY3653 from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur.

We went out to celebrate our imminent move to Malaysia with a beer shandy before dinner. Since coming to Phuket Talita had wanted a silver necklace with a crucifix pendant. There's a lady that sells these at our local food court and she finally got a necklace that was long enough for Talita's tastes. She got it. Looks great on her! Very feminine.

Today's highlights:
1. Cool rainy day.
2. Silver jewelry for the pretty one.

Thought for the day:
Is there anything in this world better
than to love someone and to be loved by that person with equal intensity?
