Introducing My Friend Ginny to My Friends the Stingrays . . .

Ginny is still here cruising with me (oh, and we did luck out with a guest cabin and dining room table again this cruise!!) and today we’re in Grand Cayman. I think the best thing to see in Grand Cayman is Stingray City, so I’d recommended it to Gin and she was all for it. She also wanted to do some snorkeling during her time down here, so we did a combination tour today.

We were bused across the island to board our motor boat that took us out into the sea. We stopped at three different snorkel spots today. We went to the Coral Gardens where we swam with fish and saw coral. Then there was a second snorkel site where we saw starfish! This was a new thing for me, so I was quite excited about this. There were so many starfish and even a sand dollar. You could dive down and pick them up. We had a couple we were passing around the boat to look out. We just had to keep pouring water on them every ten seconds to keep them hydrated before setting them back free. They’re so cool!

And of course we went to Stingray City. This is a sandbar out in the sea where stingrays congregate and tourists flock. Our guides feed them squid so they come to play. We get to hold them and hug them and kiss them and play with them. I’ve been to stingray city so many times, but I still love the rays. They’re such incredible creatures.

Ginny loved it. As I knew she would and I’m glad she did. You can see in the photos how happy she is to play with them.

The sun was gorgeous today. That made me happy. I’m feeling really worn out. My club is so busy and it’s going to stay that way for a few weeks. I worry I’m not being a very good host for Ginny cause I’m so worn out. But on beautiful days like today with friends like starfish and stingrays, we can’t not love it.
