Hello Sports Fans,
How are you all? Excellent. Right I know we have been updating this a lot recently but we have been very busy here and theres lots of photos etc. On Monday we had a quiet day and then went to the boxing in the evening. The first fight was won by knockout in the first round..... the second third and fourth fights were kids fighting each other.... Im talking 8 years old..... it took me about 3 rounds to start enjoying it because I wasnt sure if it was right to cheer kids kicking each other, then I thought that kids in England do judo etc so it was ok.... although this did provide me with one of the 2 major talking points of the night. A kid in the second fight got kicked in the ribs, turned round threw up everywhere and then carried on fighting as if nothing had happened. The other major talking point in the evenings entertainment was the fight billed as the "special fight"...turned out that it was blind boxing.... four blokes four blindfolds and a referee.... 3 minutes of mad swinging, referee getting laid out a few times before kicking the boxers in the chest to stop them from knocking him out.... it was genius... if you ever get the chance then I highly recommend it.
Yesterday we woke early(ish)...well not really early at all..... Ill start again....
Yesterday we woke at 11.30 and rented a motorbike.....(helmets were worn see pics mums) and we set off into the hills. We went to doi sutep temple where according to legend a white elephant dropped dead due to fatigue, so they built a temple there.... to be honest with you I wasnt overly impressed other than the 306 steps up with an ornate dragon going alongside all the way from bottom to top. After the temple we continued up the road and went to a viewpoint overlooking a traditional Hmong ( hill tribe) Village. Then drove down to the village itself. It was pretty amazing to be honest with you, very basic condtions, but very beautiful and the people were all really friendly. We set off back home without really realising how far we'd come. It took nearly an hour to drive back into chang mai. We dropped some things off at the hostel and then headed to the bus station to get tickets to Udon Thani so we can go to Vientienne in Laos..............PARENTS LOOK AWAY NOW.............

I have never been more petrified on the road in my life..... firstly we had to drive the wrong way down a busy one way street because we foolishly followed a tuk tuk and he was going where we wanted to be....... then whilst waiting to turn down the lane where the bus staion was on, I was getting a lot of beeps... turns out you just drive in front of cars and hope like hell they stop for you, there was a bus load of nuns laughing at us.... and finally leaving the bus station was another one way street that lead straight onto the Super Highway... a four lane motorway around the second busiest city in the country in the middle of rush hour..... now I can honestly say if I never find myself in this situation again I wont be disapointed. Luckily we both escaped unscathed.

Today we woke up early...no no we really did.... 8 o clock to be precise and had breakfast and went elephant trekking. It was amazing... We started sat on the seats that were halfway down the elephants back and then the guide jumped off and I sat on the elephants head while Joey struggled to hold onto everything in the seat. We bought two bags of bannanas and they lasted about 30seconds..... they can really put it away. After the trek we went to a waterfall for a swim before heading back to chang mai to get some sleep before the Pompy game this evening, which we are watching with James, a Pompy fan.... should be fun.

Anyway Joey will be updating you next probably from Laos. Take it easy.... .

'Bout time I added something
That's some power shower, hardly en-suite considering you have to trek there by elephant but when you consider the size of the shower tray one mustn't grumble. (No Chas n' Dave, please). I've heard of the Hairy Bikers and, thanks to your journalistic skills, I'm up to speed on Hairy Biking. Keep on trekking! Dxxx
