Yes I have survived my first earthquake. Thanks for asking I could tell you were all concerned (Sarcasm)

So I'm sure much have you have heard, or at least those of you who don't live in a cave, that there has been a series of earthquakes 60 miles NE of Rome. Unfortunately, this earthquake registering at a 6.3 L'Aquilia and 5.0 in Rome has caused much destruction to the ancient city and has left many dead. This has been one of the worst earthquakes in over a decade.

This earthquake happened on Monday at 3 in the morning. Unfortunately I was still awake because I had an exam the next day that I had to finish studying for. At first I feel my bed start to rock a little bit like maybe someone is jumping on the other side of the wall that my bed is against. After about ten seconds of that it picks up to where the windows are rattling slightly, my book shelf is moving, and my ceiling light is swinging. My roommate wakes up thinking that I was shaking him to wake him up. We sit in bed like the idiots we are and stare at each other as our room continues to shake for another 45 seconds.

There was an aftershock the next day that register as a 5.0 in L'Aquilia and was noticeable in Rome but nothing in comparison to the the night earlier.

All and all it was one hell of an experience and although it caused much destruction for some but was cool to experience the floor beneath your feet feel like that.
