We’re in Argentina!! And so far it’s winning over Brazil ( ooo controversial!)! This blog is going to be dedicated to Iguazu Falls, mostly because both Steve and I LOVED it and we had our best couple of days of the trip so far there. As background the falls boarder Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay and we used them as the crossing from Brazil. There are 270 falls that make up the park and the biggest fall is taller and wider than Niagara!
We arrived in Argentina from Florianopolis after an overnight bus checked in to our hostel which used to be a casino and was amazing! The pool was huge and it was more a hotel than hostel! We saw they did trips back to the Brazil side of the falls so that afternoon we headed back over the boarder (we now have four Brazil stamps!!) with some others from the hostel - Hans (Dutch), Hanne (Norwegian) and Marc (Irish) and spent a couple of hours walking around and taking in the stunning views (I’ve decided I’m a ‘views’ person!). After taking a million pictures we headed back to the hostel for all you can eat steak! That night Hanne

it's a rainbow! told us about a guy she met in Mexico and how he had told her about a place on the Argentinean side that was a bit of a secret place - away from the crowds (‘The Beach’ springs to mind). It sounded amazing and Hanne said we’d go looking for it the next day. AMAZING it was, we were all totally blown away. It’s hard to describe it to be honest and hopefully the photos do it justice. I won’t write in here were it was or how to get there as it’s a place I think we’ll both never forget and don’t want to spoil it by telling every backpacker how to find it. But basically you jump over some railings and run as fast as you can so no one sees you! It opens up to an amazing set of falls and plunge pool which we had all to ourselves (a Scottish and Welsh girl and also a guy from London joined us that morning too so there was a good group of us!). The falls were so intense and Steve couldn’t resist another Peter Andre moment only you couldn’t really stand under it because of the sheer
power! Honestly though Steve was like a kid in a toy shop and swam across the pool first and under the falls, before anyone else. We spent a while there before wandering around for the rest of the afternoon with huge grins on our faces just feeling so lucky for the whole thing - Hanne was bought a lot of drinks that night.
I think when you’re away it’s these things that just make it that extra special and we totally appreciate how hard it is to do and see things like this with language and money barriers so without a doubt this has been the highlight of the trip so far for us!
As I’m writing this my bum is exceptionally sore having been on an all day ‘Bikes and Wine’ tour around the wine region of Mendoza - that’ll be the next blog. We’re spending a few more days here and heading deeper in to the Andes which we’re really looking forward to.
Steve - I like waterfalls.
